US News - Major Bank Chooses Amulet Hotkey
Amulet Hotkey Inc. is pleased to announce that it has been selected to supply a major bank with over 600 Dell Blade Workstations and a selection of our KVM switches. The competition for this business was stiff with the incumbent being IBM. Amulet Hotkey was able to win the business thanks not only to its high reputation and track record, but also because of its in depth knowledge of the clients business. To quote one official at the bank “Amulet was the only potential supplier that knew one end of a trading floor from the other.”
The Dell Blade computers are fitted with the unique Amulet Hotkey BIOS which allows them to be configured as workstations running Microsoft Windows XP whilst still retaining many of the features normally found in servers that allow in depth monitoring and remote management.
The blades also have our remote desktop PCI extension system installed which means the users can be located away from the heat noise and clutter of the workstations. Of course this also means that the Blade workstation can be installed in a central, secure location where they can be maintained with ease; break fix times plummet. A place where air-conditioning and power requirements can be optimised for the task and because of the ‘blade’ format, they take up far less space than conventional computers.
Another big advantage for the bank is that moves, adds and changes involve little more than a few moments at the patch bay: Our PCI extension technology links a user and computer with nothing more than a single Cat 5 or 6 cable even where multiple monitors are being used. This brings massive savings in terms of the time and money involved in redeploying traders.
2000 Desk Managment Looms installed
We are proud to announce that we have now completed the installation of 2000 Desk Management looms for a major investment bank in Canary Wharf, London.
Amulet Hotkey was chosen to supply these looms in preference to other potential suppliers because of our long experience with this technology and our detailed understanding of the banks needs.
Our patented technology provides banks with an ideal method of simplifying the installation of multiple computers at the trading desk with a single point of ‘disconnect’ for all desktop peripherals. This means that a desk can be reconfigured with ease reducing down time for maintenance and dramatically simplifying the task of carrying out moves, adds and changes.
The looms were developed in record time to meet the banks specific needs providing support for up to 4 computers (at the desk) each with dual, digital video heads, multiple USB connections, audio and other standard peripherals. A majority of the looms were also installed with a K4u keyboard and mouse switch and many also had the DXR2 KVM extender fitted providing a gateway to trading services such as Reuters Dealing 3000.
From the banks perspective our looms gave them a means of managing the computing resources on the trading floor in an efficient manner which led directly to significant cost savings that far outweighed the initial expenditure on the looms themselves.
New advanced KVM switch
Amulet Hotkey are proud to announce the release of a new Advanced Keyboard, Video and Mouse switch: The K4vu.
Based on the tried and tested K4u USB keyboard and mouse switch, the K4vu adds a sophisticated video switching matrix capable of handling both analogue and digital video formats in single or dual head formats.
Combined with the exiting K4u feature set, the K4vu is without doubt the most advanced KVM switch designed specifically with mission critical applications in mind.
