Remote Desktop Solutions

Tomorrows technology - today...

Remote Desktop - definition: locating the desktop peripherals normally associated with a workstation or server away from the computer base unit using some form of extender system.

Why? Because in large mission critical organisations, the work desk is the wrong place to put your computers. They are noisy, they generate lots of heat and it is easy for people to gain access to disk drives, USB ports and so on, compromising security and reducing reliability. Distributing computer hardware around your work place also means distributing your technical support problems. When a problem occurs it takes longer to find and resolve it.

Benefits - By putting all your servers and workstations away from the workplace you make it easier to maintain, secure and administer assets. You free up precious space in the workplace, reducing heat and noise and improving security. Workstations and servers housed remotely or 'back racked' in a properly controlled environment last longer. The temperature is stable, there's no dust and no one to knock or misuse them.

How? There are several way to 'back rack' a computer and the method you choose will depend on the type of computer you are working with, the number of monitors you want to use, what services it is running and the distance over which you want to 'remote' the desktop. So the question is....

Where do you want your computers?

Out of the room Out of the department
Out of town
