In the pursuit of ever greater computing power it is not uncommon to find ‘power users’ in mission critical applications using more than one computer at the desk. In many cases they will have three or more linked to multiple monitors and a variety of services.

Installing and maintaining this kind of configuration across many hundreds of desks can be a daunting task. Even where powered desks with movable work surfaces are used, access to the cables and connections is difficult. In the gloom below a desk it is easy to cross connect devices and removing or replacing a single cable, no matter how well routed, always ends up taking longer than expected.

To address the problem Amulet Hotkey invented and patented the Smart-Loom®. Like all good ideas the principle behind the Smart-Loom is simple: take all the cables the that run between the computers and desktop peripherals, bind them together in a secure protective casing and then route them through a single point of attachment - a mass connector.

Using the mass connector, the process of carrying out moves, adds and changes becomes much easier as the illustrations to the right show.

Computers are mounted in a trolley. They can be quickly disconnected and moved to another location where they can be redeployed and tested with the minimum of error.
