Blade Workstations
The power of PC-over-IP
The DXM610 PC-over-IP® (PCoIP®) Blade Workstation is a high density blade workstation solution designed for mission critical applications. It will support remote users with quad-screen 3D graphics several thousand miles away.
The DXM610 is designed around ground breaking technology from Teradici, Dell, Amulet Hotkey, nVidia and Ericom. The system is designed, integrated, sold and supported by Amulet Hotkey.
It is ideally suited for trading floors, emergency command and control centers, secure workstation environments, broadcast studios and industrial control terminals.
If uptime, power, efficiency, density and performance matter in your environment, then the DXM610 is the right solution.
DXM610 is a green solution: At the desktop, low power portals reduce the load on the main supply and air-conditioning facilities. In the datacenter, highly efficient blades are used that consume significantly less power per user than conventional solutions.
On the Trading Floor
- Solve the challenge of power and cooling
- Streamline MACs while reducing risk
- Minimize downtime
- Reduce latency
- Comply with Disaster Recovery mandates
In the Command and Control Center
- Simplify complex control desks
- Accelerate redundant failover
- Enable effective disaster recovery
Security, Intelligence and Defence Agencies
- Comply totally with data security requirements
- Complete network integrity
Hardware
The Amulet Hotkey host card is installed into the Dell blade mezzanine expansion slot. DVI video, USB and Audio signals from the blade are compressed, encrypted and encoded using PCoIP technology, then transmitted ‘pixels only’ across a standard IP network to the stateless Amulet Hotkey DXR4-iP portal on the users desktop.
By offloading the compression and encryption from the CPU onto the PCoIP host card, the system delivers breathtaking, low latency performance with zero CPU overhead and no impact on workstation resources. All the blade workstation OS sees is a standard USB host controller. There are no special drivers and no changes to your standard software build image.
The portal connects to its remote blade by MAC address pairing or DHCP discovery. The address pairing can be soft coded into the host or portal by accessing the device setup using a standard web browser, or it can be dynamically assigned by the connection broker which, if required, can map the connection according to the user’s profile in Active Directory.
The hardware encoding used in the PCoIP host ensures that pre-transmission latency is reduced to a fraction of that on competing software based systems. This means that important data reaches the desktop in the fastest possible time - crucial in some mission critical applications.
Whilst providing transparent support for the widest range of USB peripherals, the PCoIP Blade Workstation also provides 'out of band' authorization on a class or device-by-device basis. The result is an ultra-secure system that cannot be breached from the desktop.
In its simplest form, the DXM610 solution allows you to put your workstations somewhere else. Everything else remains the same. Your basic distributed workstation model, server and LAN architecture does not change.
Less change equals less risk.
Management
A key part of the DXM610 solution is the Amulet SoftKey® (ASK®) suite of 'server grade' management tools.
ASK® can monitor the status of every host, portal and PCoIP related blade across the enterprise with an intuitive 'follow the red' graphical interface.
ASK® provides the level of detail normally associated with server management software and gives system administrators all the information they need to maintain an effective, responsive PCoIP infrastructure.
- Intuitive 'follow the red' interface
- Physical and Logical grouping
- Physical view of your hardware infrastructure
- Chassis Management & Configuration
Hardware discovery and monitoring
- Chassis modules
- Location of blades
- Status of blades
- Chassis configuration
- Event management / SNMP alerts
- IPMI
ASK® integrates seamlessly with Connection Broker from Ericom allowing the entire remote desktop installation to be managed and provisioned with the minimum of effort.
General benefits of Ericom's software include:
- Centralized Administration
- Easily manage users, groups, and connections
- Integrate with various authentication mechanisms including LDAP,Active Directory and Novell NDS
- Monitor Network Traffic and Active Session Statistics
- Track all system access activities
- Event logging, recording and audit trails
- Monitor Active Sessions
- View Client Information
- Log access activities in Audit Trails
- Single Point of Deployment and Upgrade
- All changes are pushed from the server
