Digital KVM Extenders

Uncompromised performance...

With Digital KVM Extension we take the peripherals normally attached to a computer base unit and move them up to 100m (500m using fibre optics) away to a remote desktop by using digital compression and encryption technologies. Depending on the model, a single twisted pair or fibre optic cable is used to link the desktop with the 'back-racked' computer.

It goes without saying that a digital solution of this sort ensures that the link between the desktop and computer remains free from any signal degradation and can be routed easily across the existing infrastructure. But perhaps the greatest benefit is that, uniquely, the DeTwo Digital KVM Extender provides one or more PCI slots (depending on the model) at the desktop. This permits the installation of a wide range of third party PCI cards such as multi-head graphics cards or hi-end multi-way digital audio converters right at the desktop where they can be used most effectively.

It is important to realise that only a single link cable (fibre or copper) is required to support dual, quad or more heads of hi resolution graphics at the desktop. Analogue KVM extenders cannot do this without significant compromises being made to the display quality.

The other point to take on board is that this solution supports DVI whereas analogue KVM exnders do not.

To extend the PCI bus, a 'driver card' is installed into the target computer together with any drivers necessary to optimise performance and integration with the operating system.  A desktop 'receiver' unit is situated at the users work place and either twisted pair or fibre cable is used to link both together.
