PC over IP
Future computing...
PC over IP is a natural extension of the analogue and digital KVM extension technology described elsewhere on this site. We take advantage of Internet Protocol, increases in available bandwidth together with breakthrough compression and encryption technology allowing a computer user to operate a workstation from many hundreds of miles away.PC over IP takes the physical connections to a computer base unit (keyboard, mouse, USB, Audio, multi-head DVI graphics ports etc) and extends them across the internet to a remote desktop. So if you want all your workstations moved safely 'out of town' but still want the convenience of being able to work in the thick of it, this is your solution.
Another advantage of using the internet to seperate your workstations from the workplace is that there are always several routes to connect them together which means, in a properly designed system, the connection should never be lost.
Additionally, if for some reason the site hosting your workstations goes off line, it is a simple matter to patch into a back-up site in another part of town - perhaps even another country. Alternatively, if your workplace becomes unusable, you can relocate staff and once again, simply patch into your workstations from the new location.
The use of IP to connect the receiver and transmitter units also means that data can be routed and switched using resources already in place on the network. This makes the whole process of undertaking moves, adds and changes much easier to accomplish and can lead to huge savings.
